Paris Police summon Antim Panghal
Antim Phangal's sister was apparently caught using her Paris Olympics 2024 accreditation card to enter the athletes village. It has also been learnt that Antim's accreditation card has been cancelled. It came as a double blow for Antim Panghal, who faced early elimination from Paris Olympics.

Antim Panghal's Olympic Hopes Dashed
India's Antim Panghal, a world championship bronze medalist, faced a disappointing early exit from the Paris Olympics. The wrestler was defeated in the first round of the women's 53kg category by Turkey's Zeynep Yetgil, losing by a decisive 0-10 score through technical superiority. Panghal's chances of repechage were eliminated when Yetgil was defeated in the quarterfinals, ending the Indian wrestler's Olympic campaign.
Yetgil's aggressive tactics overwhelmed Panghal, leading to a swift 10-0 technical superiority victory. As Yetgil was eliminated in the quarterfinals, Panghal's hopes for repechage were also dashed.
Adding to India's woes, Nisha Dahiya was forced to withdraw from the 68kg quarterfinal due to a hand injury sustained during her match against North Korea's Pak Sol Gum. The injury brought a premature end to Dahiya's Olympic campaign.
Despite these setbacks, India still has hopes pinned on Aman Sehrawat in the men's 57kg, Anshu Malik in the women's 57kg, and Reetika Hooda in the women's 76kg categories.
Vinesh Phogat's disqualification shocks nation
Antim's ouster was followed by the more devastating disqualification of Vinesh Phogat due to a weight issue. Phogat, who had made history by reaching the Olympic final, was unable to meet the weight requirements on the second day of competition, just hours before her gold medal match. Despite intense efforts to shed the excess weight, she fell short by a mere 100 grams. The Indian Olympic Association has since appealed the decision.
