The much-awaited return of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event provided a thrilling conclusion, with Cody Rhodes successfully defending his Undisputed WWE Championship against Kevin Owens in a match filled with chaos, drama, and a shocking aftermath.

As Mike Tedesco detailed in his live coverage, the main event of Saturday Night’s Main Event saw Cody Rhodes facing off against Kevin Owens in a high-stakes match. The bout featured several chaotic moments, including Owens introducing a steel chair into the ring. Despite the interference, it was Rhodes who ultimately triumphed, retaining his Undisputed WWE Championship. However, the night didn’t end there — the real chaos unfolded after the cameras stopped rolling.

Kevin Owens’ Post-Match Attack on Cody Rhodes

After Cody Rhodes celebrated his victory in the ring, Kevin Owens blindsided him with a devastating package piledriver. This move, which Owens hadn’t used in WWE for years, was a nostalgic throwback to his days in ROH (Ring of Honor) and the independent wrestling scene. The piledriver left Rhodes motionless, prompting medical personnel to rush to his aid.

Owens Takes the Winged Eagle Championship

Following his brutal attack on Rhodes, Kevin Owens grabbed the Winged Eagle Championship, the title Rhodes had brought to the match, and made his way toward the stage. There, Triple H, WWE's Chief Content Officer, confronted Owens in a tense standoff. The two men exchanged shoves, but the situation ended without further escalation, as Triple H walked away, leaving the conflict unresolved.

The Aftermath: Rhodes Stretchered Out

As Cody Rhodes lay motionless in the ring after the piledriver, he was quickly attended to by medical personnel. Rhodes was stretchered out of the arena in a scene reminiscent of Randy Orton’s previous encounter with Owens, when the latter took Orton out of action in a similar fashion last month. As Rhodes was being removed from the ring, Owens taunted him by standing on top of the stretcher and holding the Winged Eagle Championship aloft. The Winged Eagle design, used by WWE from 1988 to 1998, is a symbol of the company’s rich history, adding an extra layer of symbolism to Owens’ taunt.

Owens and Triple H Clash After the Show

The post-show chaos didn’t end there. After Owens left the ring, he had a heated confrontation with Triple H on the entrance ramp. The two exchanged shoves, but WWE officials were quick to step in and break up the altercation before it escalated further. Owens, however, wasn’t done mocking WWE or his adversaries.

Kevin Owens’ Twitter Mockery of Triple H

On X (formerly Twitter), Kevin Owens mocked the situation in a cheeky post. He claimed that after the confrontation, Triple H thanked him for his actions and even invited him over for Christmas dinner.

In his tweet, Owens wrote:

"Upon leaving gorilla, Triple H enthusiastically thanks Kevin Owens for the house and tells him how proud he is of Kevin for doing what needed to be done and taking what he truly deserves and proceeds to invite him over to his house for Christmas dinner and to watch SNME back on a 734-inch TV," wrote Owens

This playful jab from Owens served to further escalate the tension between him and Triple H, while continuing his feud with Cody Rhodes.

The Future of the Owens-Rhodes Feud

As Cody Rhodes was stretchered out of the arena following the Owens piledriver, questions remain about his status moving forward. Will he be sidelined, similar to Randy Orton, or will he quickly return to seek revenge on his attacker? With Owens continuing his ruthless behavior and Rhodes no stranger to overcoming adversity, this rivalry looks set to continue in what promises to be a dramatic showdown in the weeks ahead.

The Saturday Night’s Main Event of 2024 ended with more than just a title defense — it marked the beginning of a new chapter in the bitter feud between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens, leaving WWE fans eagerly awaiting the next development in this high-stakes rivalry.
