His resume however states that he has incurred one loss in his career, but it was a disqualification "L", which in the world of combat sports does not hold much value. His exceptional fight prowess has received continued recognition from UFC boss Dana White, who hails the current Heavyweight Champion as an undisputed GOAT.

Daniel Cormier On Why Jon Jones Needs to Lose At Least Once

In the span of his long career, Jon Jones has faced a total of 30 opponents and was indulged in some nerve-wracking rivalries as well. His biggest rival was undoubtedly Daniel Cormier, with whom he shared a hostile relationship. Jones and DC squared off twice inside the Octagon and both times the former picked up the win (The second fight ended in no-contest after tests showed that Jones competed under the influence of a banned substance). The bitter rivals remained at odds with each other for the longest time but in the past few years, both have mellowed down and have showcased mutual respect towards each other.

Nevertheless, as DC has pivoted to become a broadcaster after ending his stint as a fighter, he also pays heed to the aspects related to Jon Jones as a fighter. Moreover, as speculations of a potential fight between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall are going strong, DC also added insights to the fight putting weight to the need for Aspinall to beat Jon Jones.

As per the former UFC Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight champion, Jon Jones needs to lose at least once. Elaborating on his stance, DC stated that the result will finally put an end to era of Jon Jones, and the a new chapter in the UFC would begin.

“He needs to lose. He can’t go and leave this thing undefeated. For Tom Aspinall to become the next big superstar, he has to beat Jon Jones.”

Cormier also acknowledged the flip side, stating that Jones' victory over Aspinall would further improve his legacy and he will continue to be a massive draw for the promotion.
