The reigning UFC Heavyweight Champion, Jon Jones, needs no introduction, as he has headlined the UFC world for years by winning several accolades, including an incredible 28-1-0 record. The 37-year-old fighter, known for breaking his opponents' confidence through his unfiltered statements, has once again shared his views on his much-anticipated fight against the reigning Interim UFC Heavyweight Champion, Tom Aspinall.
Building anticipation for his upcoming UFC fights, the Bones further took a swipe at the current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, Alex Pereira.
Jones staying true to his candid nature
The Rochester New York native recently could be seen making his "hate" public for his upcoming potential opponent Tom Aspinall. Jones stated that he finds Aspinall annoying and added that he does not even consider beating the English fighter an accolade or a record in his career.
"To beat up Tom Aspinall I don't break a record in doing that or I set a record further ahead in doing that," Jones said. "You know I really don't like Tom. he is a great athlete; I'll admit that he is a bigger threat than Alex Pereira, but I've been fighting the best guys in the world my whole career. I've been fighting the number contender my whole career. So, it's not being a threat that's the issue, I just don't like Tom. I find him annoying, and I stick by that," he added.
Jones further praised the Brazilian icon Alex Pereira and shared that he is in awe of his accolades and that beating him in a fight would be his tenth time beating a UFC champion especially considering the fact that Pereira is loved by Americans and Brazilians.
"Alex Pereira on the other hand his accolades are incredible, beating Alex Pereira that would be my tenth UFC champion that I beat, it just does more for my legacy and I think the number are incredibly high. Americans love Alex Pereira, Brazilians love Alex Pereira," Jones said.
Dana White has confirmed that Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall is happening in 2025 and emphasized that Jones is not "afraid" of fighting anyone in UFC.
