Nebraska volleyball will see a significant change in its coaching staff as Jordan Larson steps away from her role after two impactful seasons. Head coach John Cook announced the departure, expressing his gratitude for Larson’s contributions to the program.
"Following the season, Larson informed me that she has decided to move on from being part of our coaching staff," Cook stated.
"While I am disappointed we won't have her on staff anymore, I am thankful to Jordan for all that she has done for our program over these past two seasons, helping us go 66-5 with trips to the NCAA Final and NCAA Semifinals.
"It wasn't easy for her while balancing the Olympics and a professional playing career at the same time, but she gave everything she had to our players and to the Nebraska volleyball program, and she will be missed. It has been fun watching Jordan begin her LOVB Omaha career, and we hope she has a great season."
During her tenure with the Huskers, Larson helped guide the team to an impressive 66-5 record, which included appearances in the NCAA Final and Semifinals. Her coaching stint coincided with her active professional playing career, as Larson also competed in the Olympics and joined the inaugural League One Volleyball (LOVB) season as a member of LOVB Omaha.
Jordan Larson’s connection with Nebraska volleyball dates back to her college years from 2005 to 2008, where she helped lead the Huskers to three national semifinal appearances and a National Championship title in 2006. Her senior year was especially remarkable as she earned both Big 12 Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year honors.
As a professional athlete, Larson has played internationally and represented Team USA since 2009, earning numerous accolades, including captaining the team to a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Currently excelling in the LOVB Omaha league, Larson has showcased her skill with a strong start to the season, ranking among the league’s top players in aces, pass efficiency, and kills.
Her departure from Nebraska volleyball leaves a legacy of excellence, and while her presence will be missed, Larson’s influence on the program and its players remains indelible.
