Kuldeep Kumar delivered a historic performance at the Indian Indoor Open Combined Events and Pole Vault Competition, breaking the national record with a stunning clearance of 5.41m. The 21-year-old from Madhya Pradesh achieved the feat on the opening day of the inaugural event, outshining several established competitors.
Competing in his first-ever indoor meet, Kuldeep made an immediate impact, clinching the title with a record-breaking jump that came on his very first attempt.
Record-breaking leap surpasses previous marks
Kuldeep’s effort eclipsed the previous national record of 5.40m set by fellow Madhya Pradesh athlete Dev Kumar Meena last year. Meena, who was among the favorites heading into the competition, finished third with a clearance of 5.20m.
In addition to setting a new outdoor national mark, Kuldeep also bettered the existing indoor national record of 5.30m, which had been set earlier this year by Reegan G.
