In a shocking incident just hours before the 2025 Met Gala, renowned celebrity stylist Jessica Paster was forcibly removed by police outside New York’s Carlyle Hotel. Paster, who was in the city to dress stars including Simone Biles, Miranda Kerr, and Quinta Brunson for fashion’s biggest night, described the ordeal as being “manhandled” despite having proper credentials.
Chaotic Scene Outside Carlyle Hotel
According to Page Six, the dramatic encounter unfolded Monday when Paster was attempting to enter the Carlyle Hotel, a traditional hotspot for celebrities preparing for the Met Gala. A video captured by Reuters showed the stylist yelling, “I’m staying at this hotel,” while officers restrained her from entering the lobby.
The footage also shows Paster being physically grabbed and escorted away by police, until a hotel staff member intervened and allowed her back inside. But the altercation didn’t end there.
“I’m So Mad Right Now”: Paster’s Heated Reaction
Visibly shaken and angry, Paster was later seen taking a photo of the officer involved in the incident. “I’m so mad right now,” she exclaimed, confronting the situation head-on.
Speaking to the outlet after the encounter, she explained, “I want to say that I am just a person staying at a hotel minding my own business, having the credentials on my wrist and I got manhandled.”
Claims of Overreaction by Authorities
Paster said she had simply followed the instructions given to her by police. “I listened to people. They said go through the service door and when I did, they said go back to the lobby. And all of a sudden they attacked me, they manhandled me.”
She further described the police response as unnecessarily aggressive, saying the officers were “overzealous” despite her having a wristband proving she was a hotel guest.
Injuries and Pain from the Encounter
The stylist shared that the scuffle left her in pain. “I am in a lot of pain,” she stated. “[The cop] is lucky she didn’t break my arms.”
Her assistant backed her up, expressing disbelief over how the situation unfolded. “Anyone would have the reaction \[she did] if they were grabbed out of nowhere after following instructions.”
Jessica Paster is a respected name in Hollywood fashion circles, and the incident has already sparked concern over how NYPD handled crowd control in the lead-up to the high-profile event.
