HS Pronnoy scripted a remarkable turnaround at the Singapore Open 2026, coming back after a one-sided opening game to beat fifth seed Jonathan Christie and book his berth in the Round of 16.
HS Prannoy makes stunning comeback against Christie
The star Indian shutter struggled a lot initially against Christie, as he performed brilliantly in the opening game by winning it 21-10 with sheer elegance and attacking play.
Pronoy lacked rhythm early in the clash, which led to a number of unforced errors as the Indonesian shuttler dictated the pace of the rallies with comfort. However, the momentum took a turn in the second game.
In the second game, Prannoy seemed comfortable and aggressive after the completion of the opening game, unleashing amazing smashes and showcasing excellent control at the net. The Indian shuttler dominated the rallies with consistency and pushed Christie into errors to secure the second game 21-12 and draw level in the match.
Prannoy maintained his composure in the deciding game and matched Christie point for point during the initial phase. The Indian was trailing 8-11 at one stage before responding brilliantly with the straight points to take a slender 11-10 lead at the break.
Although Christie attempted to fight his way back into the match, Prannoy stayed calm under pressure and executed his plan with perfection in the dying stages of the game with controlled rallies and well-timed attacking strokes. The Indian shuttler eventually closed out the decider 21-18, completing a great comeback win in a one-hour battle. Prannoy registered a remarkable comeback victory with a final scoreline of 10-21, 21-12, 21-18.
