Indian women’s doubles pair Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly have claimed a significant boost in the BWF rankings after they won the historic Bronze medal. The pair have climbed 12 places to world No. 27 in the latest BWF rankings released on Tuesday.
The rise follows their historic bronze medal at the 2026 BWF World Championships held in New Delhi, where they confirmed the medal after defeating fourth seeds Jia Yi Fan and Zhang Shu Xian of China in a three-game thriller in the quarters.

Entering the tournament ranked 39th, the unseeded duo produced a series of strong performances, including victories over higher-ranked Chinese pairs, before finishing on the podium. They were slipped to 39 following an injury layoff ans now have bounced back to 12 spots to World No. 27.
Their bronze marked India’s first women’s doubles medal at the World Championships since Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa’s achievement in 2011. The pair had previously reached a career-high of world No. 9 but had slipped down the rankings due to injuries earlier in the year.
The ranking boost is the largest among women’s doubles pairs currently inside the top 50 and underlines the pair’s return to form on home soil, having climbed spots in the BWF rankings. The duo was defeated by World No. 1 Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning of China in the semifinals.
