Jon Jones is one of the fewest UFC superstars who has never lost any fights in his career, which speaks volumes of his MMA skills, but there is one fighter who has once defeated the reigning Heavyweight Champion, and it was the only loss of Jones' decorated career. It's the former MMA prodigy Matt Hamill who enjoys the tag of being the only fighter to leave the Octagon with a win against Jones. However, the victory didn’t come through a unanimous decision, knockout, submission, or any other conventional means. Instead, it was a disqualification that handed the former Light Heavyweight Champion his only loss in the promotion.

In a recent announcement, Hamill shared a significant update about his personal life that left his fans both emotional and overjoyed. Let’s delve into the details and discover what the news was.

Hamill's heart melting announcement

On Saturday, the 48-year-old fighter posted an update on his Instagram handle in a join post with MMA Fighting and revealed that he can finally hear. Hamill, who was deaf by birth, fought throughout his career by relying on lip reading of his staff in his corner or visual cues and can finally hear now. In his Instagram post, the former UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) icon shared that he finally heard his kids' and mother's voices and explained how she cried upon learning the news. It was all made possible through exceptional digital hearing aids.

"I just got the most powerful digital hearing aids ever made,” Hamill wrote. “For the first time in 41 years, I can finally hear my kids’ voices, the sounds of people walking and laughing. I finally heard my mom’s voice, and she cried. I’m looking forward to hearing my brother Pat’s voice too. I only hope he doesn’t have a voice like a foghorn. This is awesome although I know it will take time to adapt to all of this. Happy New Year!"
