A heartbreaking video has emerged showing Neeraj Chopra using a wheelchair and crutches shortly after he announced that an ankle ligament tear sustained during training has forced him to end his 2026 season early. The Indian javelin star’s video has gone viral on the internet among his fans. 

The injury came just days after the two-time Olympic medallist produced a season-best throw of 88.05 metres to finish second at the Lausanne Diamond League, raising hopes that he was finally regaining his rhythm following a long recovery from previous setbacks.

In an emotional social media post, Chopra confirmed he would miss the remainder of the year, including the Asian Games and Diamond League Final, after consulting his doctors and support team. The footage of the Olympic champion being wheeled around with a bandaged leg has left fans deeply concerned, underscoring the severity of the setback for both the athlete and India’s medal prospects.

Chopra has been ruled out for the rest of the 2026 athletics season after suffering a ligament tear in his ankle during training. Additionally, it also forces him to miss the Diamond League Final and the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, where he had been expected to defend his title.
