ATP Tour has joined the bio update trend on X (formerly Twitter) and has dedicated it to Novak Djokovic for a new record the 24-time Grand Slam champion has made recently. The Serb has proved on the tennis court that ‘age is just a number’. The player, despite battling with a left-leg injury, reached the quarterfinals of the Shanghai Open.
ATP Tour updates bio to honor Novak Djokovic for his new record
On Tuesday, the 38-year-old tennis icon, by reaching the last eight of the ATP Masters 1000 at the Qizhong Forest Sports City Arena, became the oldest player to do so. The Serbian native beat Jaume Munar of Spain with a score of 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 in a hard-fought battle.
Djokovic won the first set but the Spaniard fought back to claim the second one. However, the Olympic gold medalist bounced back to win the third and seal the victory for himself. He is now the oldest player to reach the quarterfinals of the ATP event surpassing Roger Federer. The Swiss had made this record when he made it to the last eight of the Shanghai Masters in 2019.
