Coco Gauff was asked about Donald Trump’s second spell as America’s president during her media appearance at the Australian Open 2026. The American is into the third round of the first Grand Slam following her recent victory. And following that, she was asked about Trump's policies, to which the 21-year-old replied that she is tired of talking about it.
Coco Gauff expresses fatigue discussing Trump's second term at Australian Open
Gauff attended a press conference following her victory in the second round against Serbian Olga Danilovic. While providing her heartfelt opinion on the current policies led by the 47th president of the United States, the World No. 3 replied:
“I hope we can have much more peace in our country and more kindness in how we talk to each other about different topics and things like that.”
The former No. 2 WTA star continued:
“At this point, I feel a bit fatigued talking about.”
Gauff continued by saying that being a Black woman in America is not easy, and the most she can do is raise her voice and donate.
Gauff stated that she is doing her “best” and hopes that someday everything will change and “reach a different state than the one we're in now.” The top-seeded tennis player is well known for her raising voices. She has spoken against Trump during his first stint as president, most recent was in the 2024 Roland Garros tournament.
Meanwhile, the American tennis player will next play against countrywoman Hailey Baptiste in the Round of 32 in the women’s singles competition. She is coming off a 6-2, 6-2 win against Danilovic of Serbia.
