Teenage sensation Mirra Andreeva continues to advance at Roland Garros. The tennis star will meet Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk in the women’s singles semifinals at the French Open, setting up a highly anticipated rematch of the 2026 Madrid Open final.
Mirra Andreeva to face Marta Kostyuk in Roland Garros Semifinal rematch
The 19-year-old Andreeva cruised into her second French Open semifinal with a dominant 6-0, 6-3 victory over Romania’s Sorana Cirstea on Tuesday. The match lasted just 56 minutes, showcasing the young star’s powerful baseline game and clay-court prowess.
Andreeva’s opponent, No. 15 seed Marta Kostyuk, advanced by defeating compatriot Elina Svitolina in an emotional all-Ukrainian quarterfinal. The 23-year-old Ukrainian has been in sensational form this clay season, riding a 17-match unbeaten streak and claiming the Madrid title after beating Andreeva in the final.
Kostyuk currently leads the head-to-head 2-0 against Andreeva. However, the Russian will be motivated for revenge on the Paris clay as she bids to reach her first Grand Slam final. The matchup carries extra weight due to the geopolitical backdrop, with Russian and Belarusian players competing under neutral status. Kostyuk has been vocal in support of Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict.
The semifinal is scheduled for Thursday on Court Philippe Chatrier. Andreeva, who is ranked 8th and a two-time Grand Slam semifinalist at a young age, will look to extend her strong run, while Kostyuk aims to make history as the first Ukrainian woman to reach a Roland Garros final.
