Alex took on the American Marcos Giron and defeated him in four sets (6-3, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4). Finnish player Otto Virtanen could not challenge the likes of de Minaur and lost in straight sets (7-5, 6-1, 7-6).
Dan Evans tried to give a competition to his fellow Brit, but failed as the match ended in four sets (6-3, 7-6(4), 6-0, 6-0). The fellow Australian in the form of Jordan Thompson, was the recent player Alex defeated in four sets (6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5).

Draper started his campaign with a win over the Chinese Zhang Zhizhen in straight sets (6-3, 6-0, 4-0) due to a walkover. In the second round, Draper got the best of Facundo Díaz Acosta as the Argentine lost the match in straight sets (6-4, 6-2, 6-2).
The third round saw the Dutch Botic van de Zandschulp lose to Draper in straight sets (6-3, 6-4, 6-2). The latest player to be defeated by the hands of Draper was Tomas Machac, as the Czech player lost the match (6-3, 6-1, 6-2).
