In a heartfelt statement on his social media account, Ferrero stated that he wished to have continued with Alcaraz instead of the split. Ferrero, who himself is a former World No. 1 player and a Grand Slam champion, wrote:
"Today, a very important chapter of my life comes to an end. I close it with nostalgia, but also with pride and excitement for what may come next.”
Ferrero thanked Alcaraz for his trust and the efforts during their partnership and for making it a successful journey. He also wished the Spanish star for his future professional career as well as his personal life. The former coach of Alcaraz further wrote:
"I wish I could have continued. I am convinced that good memories and good people always find a way to cross paths again.”
So far, the reason behind their split has not been revealed despite the success. However, in the announcement, Alcaraz stated that both of them need “change for both, new adventures and new projects.”
The announcement came just days after Ferrero clinched the 2025 ATP Coach of the Year Award alongside Samuel Lopez, for their leadership of Alcaraz. Lopez operates at Ferrero's academy in Alicante, and he has also coached the six-time major winner.
Alcaraz, in an emotional post giving tribute to his now former coach, thanked him for making his childhood dream into reality. The 22-year-old has won six Grand Slam titles and reached the No. 1 ranking alongside an Olympic silver medal under Ferrero’s coaching.
