Cleveland Browns monitor multiple injuries as Steelers showdown approaches.

Cleveland Browns face a growing list of concerns heading into their Week 17 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, with multiple contributors landing on the injury report at a critical point in the season.

While Cleveland prepares for a high-stakes divisional showdown, uncertainty around several key players has complicated the team’s outlook.

Most notably, rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel has been listed as questionable despite barely seeing the field this season.

Gabriel is dealing with a shoulder issue that surfaced late in the week, raising questions about depth behind starter Shedeur Sanders.

“Yeah, soreness popped up,” Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said.

Gabriel’s status draws unexpected attention

Gabriel’s injury designation comes as a surprise given his limited usage. The rookie appeared for just one snap during Cleveland’s recent game against the Buffalo Bills after Sanders briefly exited with a finger injury.

That appearance drew an uncomfortable reaction from the home crowd, as Gabriel was sacked on the play before Browns settled for a field goal.

Following the game, Sanders addressed the moment, acknowledging the situation Gabriel was placed in and offering support afterward.

While Gabriel is not expected to start, his availability remains important as Cleveland Browns navigate late-season health issues.

Harold Fannin Jr. injury raises biggest red flag

Among the players listed as questionable, tight end Harold Fannin Jr. presents the most significant concern. Fannin has been one of Cleveland’s most productive offensive weapons and a trusted target for Sanders throughout the season. He leads the team in receptions (70), receiving yards (701), and touchdown catches (5).

Fannin sustained his injury during Friday’s practice, leaving his status for Sunday uncertain.

“Just had something come up. Sometimes injuries happen on a Friday, and you got to see how it progresses to Sunday,” Stefanski said. “He’ll do everything he can to be out there.”

Multiple contributors uncertain, others ruled out

In addition to Gabriel and Fannin, Browns have listed cornerback Myles Harden, defensive tackle Sam Kamara, running back Dylan Sampson, and guard Wyatt Teller as questionable for the Steelers game.

Tight end David Njoku and linebacker Winston Reid have already been ruled out, further thinning Cleveland’s depth on both sides of the ball.

Timing couldn’t be worse for Cleveland Browns

With Pittsburgh looming and postseason implications intensifying, Browns now face the challenge of managing injuries while maintaining momentum.

The availability of Fannin, in particular, could shape Cleveland’s offensive approach. As kickoff approaches, Cleveland Browns’ final injury decisions may play a decisive role in Sunday’s AFC North battle.
