The Philadelphia Eagles won the season opener against Greenway Packers on Friday in South America. Brazil hosted its first NFL game with Saquon Barkley scoring a hat trick on his debut. The Eagles won the game 34-29 starting their season on a high. Greenway Packers suffered a major setback when their quarterback Jordan Love limped off the field with assistance after he was injured with six seconds remaining in Sao Paulo.

Barkley's dream debut

He rushed for 109 yards scoring an 18-yard catch and runs of 11 and two yards. Previously Barkley spent six seasons with the New York Giants before Eagles roped him to a three-year $37.75 million deal with $26 million guaranteed. Barkley became the first player to score three touchdowns on his Eagles debut since Terrell Owens in 2004.

“I'm always about visualizing success and putting positivity in my mind. That's one of my goals this year: Be more of a positive thinker," Barkley said.

Packers coach Matt LaFleur has no update on Love's injury

“We’ve got to learn from this. Because, just watching the tape, and I’m not trying to take anything away from Philly — they battled and they played their game — but I think there was a lot of opportunities that we didn’t capitalize," said LaFleur.

Backup Malik Willis was sacked by Zack Baun on the final play, preventing him from launching a Hail Mary from the Philadelphia 47. Reed caught the ball inside the Eagles' 40-yard line, evading safety CJ Gardner-Johnson with a sharp move around the 30-yard line. Reed became the first player to achieve both a 30-plus yard touchdown catch and a 30-plus yard touchdown run in a season opener since Hall of Famer Jim Brown in 1963. He also had a 38-yard touchdown reception on the opening drive nullified due to both teams having 12 men on the field. Reed ended the game with four catches for 138 yards.
