India’s Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill scored a half-century in his second appearance in the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League 2026 clash. Leading Fazilka Falcons, he scored a quickfire half-century against Abhishek Sharma's Amritsar Soormas at Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali, on September 7.

Gill cautious against spinners

After opting to bowl first, Abhishek opened the bowling. He conceded just six runs including a boundary off Vihaan Malhotra's bat. In the next over, Gill hit Naman Dhir for three consecutive fours. Dhir made a comeback with the wicket of Malhotra. In the next over, Abhishek dismissed Anshul Choudhary lbw for a golden duck. He conceded just four runs from the over. In the sixth over, Gill hit his first six of the innings. After powerplay overs, Falcons were 60/2.

Abhishek has the last laugh after Gill’s fifty

Mayank Markande bowled well, conceding just eight runs in his first two overs. Gill reached his half-century from 28 balls while Pranshu Pratap struggled to get going. In the 10th over, Abhishek returned. Gill smashed him for two sixes and a four before getting caught at deep mid-wicket boundary by Dhir.

His 35-ball 67 knock featured eight fours and three sixes. Falcons were 92/3 after 10 overs when he departed. Abhishek finished his quota of four overs, conceded 37 runs and bagging two wickets.
