Taylor Swift unveils a visually rich project inspired by retro themes and personal symbolism.

Swift opens up about the creative process and the joy behind bringing the concept to life.

Taylor Swift is once again dominating front pages worldwide, but unlike recent months, the spotlight now shines on celebration rather than controversy. The global superstar has unveiled the music video for Opalite, a standout single from her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, marking a vibrant and nostalgic chapter in her ever-evolving artistry.

A 90s-inspired visual spectacle

Written and directed by Swift herself, Opalite is a cinematic love letter to the 1990s. From a rock dog and mall adventures to retro commercials and stylized photoshoots, the video immerses viewers in a playful yet emotionally layered romance.

The narrative cleverly draws on the symbolism of opal — a birthstone associated with her fiance Travis Kelce — weaving fantasy and sentiment into a visually rich storyline.

At the heart of the video lies an imaginative “opal spray” with magical properties, transforming inanimate objects into people and vice versa. Taylor Swift appears with a stone companion perched on her shoulder, while Domhnall Gleeson is portrayed in a dramatic arc involving a small cactus. The surreal twists culminate in transformations that bring the characters closer to Swift’s own persona.

Inspiration behind Opalite

Swift revealed the spark behind the concept, saying, "The idea for the Opalite music video suddenly popped into my imagination while I was promoting The Life of a Showgirl."

Filming took place during her appearance on the Graham Norton Show in the UK — a program she has often praised. The on-air premiere occurred on October 3, 2025, with actors Cillian Murphy, Domhnall Gleeson, Greta Li, Jodi Smith, and singer Lewis Capaldi joining her on stage.

Reflecting on the collaborative process, Taylor Swift shared, "To my delight, each of the show’s guests did their part to bring us back to the 90s and help with this video." She added, "You may even recognize some familiar faces from The Eras Tour."

The creative journey clearly left a lasting impact on the singer. «I have enjoyed it more than ever – made new friends, new metaphors and stylistic choices. It was an absolute thrill to create this story and these characters», Swift said.

With Opalite, Swift not only returns to headlines but reclaims them with artistry, nostalgia, and unmistakable joy.
