Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was spotted arriving at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City on March 12 for the Big 12 Men's Basketball Tournament, drawing widespread attention due to a noticeable limp in his gait.
A video shared by an NFL Insider, Dov Kleiman, shows the three-time Super Bowl champion walking with a visible hitch approximately three months after undergoing surgery in December last year, to repair a torn ACL and LCL in his left knee suffered during a Week 15 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in the 2025 season.
Mahomes arrives at Big 12 game with noticeable limp 3 months after ACL surgery; Is Chiefs’ star’s injury serious?
Chiefs medical staff and Mahomes himself have expressed optimism, with reports indicating he has hit key rehab milestones early, including significant knee flexion shortly after surgery and could potentially return for Week 1 in September 2026, beating the standard nine-month timeline.
However, the Chiefs are hopeful that the NFL star will return in time as Andy Reid’s side attempts to do better in the upcoming year following their disappointing loss. They missed the payoffs for the first time since 2014, ending with a 6-11 record.
