Billy Eichner recently shared a funny story about a mix-up with Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce at an Oscars afterparty hosted by Madonna earlier this year. The comedian appeared on *Jimmy Kimmel Live*, where he recounted the amusing misunderstanding that had the audience laughing.
Eichner began by describing how Kelce, brimming with excitement, approached him in a room full of Hollywood stars. "All of a sudden, I feel this very strong, bro-y pat on my back," Eichner recalled, noting that, at 6'3", he rarely has to look up to greet someone. But in front of him stood none other than Travis Kelce, the NFL star and Taylor Swift's boyfriend, beaming with energy.
What caught Eichner off guard was Kelce's enthusiastic and completely mistaken greeting. With confidence, Kelce shouted, "Jimmy on the motherf**king Street! I love you, man!" referring to Eichner’s popular show *Billy on the Street.
Eichner's Amused Reaction
Despite Kelce's mix-up, Eichner admitted that he couldn’t bring himself to correct the star. "He looked so happy to see me. I could tell he was a fan," Eichner said, clearly charmed by Kelce’s excitement.
Fist Bumps and "Bro Energy"
Throughout the evening, Eichner said that Kelce continued to greet him with fist bumps every time they crossed paths. Eichner joked, "I don’t want to stereotype gay men, but I don’t ordinarily communicate via fist bump."
He also speculated that Kelce may have confused him with *Jimmy Kimmel Live* host Jimmy Kimmel, who was also present at the event. However, Kimmel quickly disagreed, saying that Kelce hadn’t spoken to him at all during the night.
Eichner’s Playful Jab at Kelce
Eichner concluded the story with a humorous remark, imagining how he could have teased Kelce in return. "It would have been funny if I turned to her and said, 'Oh my God, Sara Bareilles, I love you,'" he joked, referring to Taylor Swift, who had been with Kelce at the time.
Before wrapping up, Eichner extended an invitation to Kelce to appear on a special episode of Billy on the Street, while Kimmel chimed in to further lighten the mood.
