Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has shared his thoughts on the much-debated "GOAT" quarterback conversation, weighing in on who he believes stands atop the NFL's all-time greats: Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes. Both players have redefined excellence in the sport. Brady, the seven-time Super Bowl champion, boasts an unparalleled legacy that includes five Super Bowl MVP awards, three NFL MVPs, and two NFL Offensive Player of the Year honors, among other accolades. On the other hand, Mahomes, despite his youth, has already secured three Super Bowl titles, three Super Bowl MVPs, and two NFL MVP awards, cementing his place among the greats.
Yet, when it came to choosing between the two, Kelce made his allegiance clear, and his choice might surprise some.
Travis Kelce declares his GOAT
As the Chiefs march toward a potential third consecutive Super Bowl title, Kelce didn't hesitate to crown his teammate Patrick Mahomes as the greatest quarterback in NFL history.
Speaking to ESPN's Chris Berman, Kelce said, "It’s been such a pleasure. He’s every bit of a superstar off the field as he is on the field. I consider him family."
Travis Kelce highlighted Mahomes’ leadership and impact on the Chiefs organization since joining as the 10th overall pick in 2017.
:"There’s one common denominator from the Chiefs my entire career and that’s Andy Reid, but this thing really took off when Patrick Mahomes got here," Kelce stated. "I know everybody knows that, but what I see in the building, his leadership, his ability to relate to everybody and motivate everybody, and be accountable, it’s unique, and it’s like nothing else."
Kelce concluded his remarks with a definitive statement: "He’s the greatest to ever do it. You can’t change my mind, otherwise."
At just 29 years old, Mahomes has already accomplished feats that rival Brady’s storied career. From consistently leading Kansas City to the AFC Championship to securing multiple Super Bowl wins, Mahomes continues to raise the bar. Kelce’s endorsement not only reflects his admiration for Mahomes but also adds fuel to one of the NFL’s most enduring debates.
While fans may continue to argue over the GOAT quarterback title, Kelce’s vote is clear: Patrick Mahomes reigns supreme in his eyes.
