Indian trio of Neeru, Aashima and Manisha win silver medal in women's trap team event at Asian Games 2026

India won another silver medal in shooting events at Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026. The trio of Neeru Dhanda, Aashima Ahlawat and Manisha Keer claimed a silver medal in women's trap event on September 29. This is India's first medal on Day 11 at the games.

India scored three more points to beat Kuwaiti team – Shahad Alhawal, Hajar Abdulmalik and Sarah Alhawal – which bagged a bronze medal with a combined total of 325 points. The Chinese trio of Liu Shanshan, Sun Yunong and Zhu Jingyu were way ahead of India with 346 points. Qatar missed out on a bronze medal by just one point.

Neeru scored 118 points whereas Aashima and Manisha scored 106 and 104 points respectively. Neeru also booked her spot in the final. She finished at the top alongside Qatar's Ray Basil. The 118 points she accumulated is a qualification Games record. 

Ahlawat and Keer couldn't make It to the final of the individual event as they finished 16th and 23rd respectively. Neeru went on to win a historic gold medal as she hit 28 in the final, an Asian Games record. She became the first Indian woman to win an individual gold in Asian Games history in trap or skeeting shooting events.

This is India's 21st silver medal at the Asian Games 2026. 

No medal for men's team, Shapath into final

Meanwhile, the India men's trap team comprising of Shapath Bharadwaj, Kynan Chenai and Ahvar Rizvi finished sixth in the 10-team event with 339 points, same as fifth-placed Lebanon. However, Bharadwaj finished eight and qualified for the final.
