The national junior selection panel, headed by former India international Parvinder Awana, selected dynamic top-order batter Lakshya Raichandani to captain the side, with Yashbardhan Singh Chauhan named as vice-captain. While the 15-member roster boasts a well-rounded balance of explosive top-order batters, versatile all-rounders, and skilled spin-pace options, media attention and fan excitement have centered heavily on two prominent inclusions in the form of Anvay Dravid and Aaryavir Sehwag.
As sons of Indian cricket icons Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag, both young prodigies have earned their places in the national squad strictly through stellar domestic runs and impactful performances in youth series.

Spotlight on Anvay Dravid and Aaryavir Sehwag
While legacy names draw natural media interest, both Anvay Dravid and Aaryavir Sehwag earned their international call-ups on merit following consistent performances in junior cricket.
Anvay Dravid: Technical Mastery and High-Speed Finishing
Anvay Dravid, son of former India captain and head coach Rahul Dravid, has emerged as one of the most reliable wicketkeeper-batters in junior cricket. Known for combining structured classical strokeplay with modern power-hitting, Anvay’s recent form across red-ball and white-ball formats made his inclusion undeniable.
Vinoo Mankad Trophy Brilliance: Representing Karnataka U19, Anvay set the domestic tournament alight with a breathtaking innings of 151 off 100 balls against Gujarat U19, completing a massive run chase. That knock marked his second century in three matches during the tournament.
Bilateral Series Against Sri Lanka U19: During the Youth ODI series against Sri Lanka U19, Anvay accumulated 101 runs in 2 innings at an average of 50.50 and an explosive strike rate of 117.44, highlighted by a match-winning 87 off 67 balls in the second ODI.
Youth ODI Exposure vs Australia U19: In the 3-match Youth ODI series against Australia U19, Anvay provided quick lower-order flourishes, including a quickfire 38 off 18 balls in the opening fixture to finish matches strongly.
Aaryavir Sehwag: Unapologetic Power and Boundary Dominance
Aaryavir Sehwag, son of legendary opener Virender Sehwag, plays with an aggressive style reminiscent of his father. Serving as captain for Delhi U19 in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, Aaryavir’s ability to punish bowling attacks made him an obvious pick for India's top order.
Vinoo Mankad Trophy Record Knock: Aaryavir produced a statement performance against Chandigarh U19, smashing 173 runs off 143 balls. His innings featured 19 fours and 8 sixes, meaning 124 of his 173 runs (71.7%) came in boundaries alone while single-handedly accounting for 59.9% of Delhi's 289-run total.
Series vs Australia U19: In India U19's 3-0 Youth ODI series sweep against Australia U19 in Rajkot, Aaryavir finished as a key contributor at the top, scoring 109 runs across 3 innings (averaging 36.33 at a strike rate of 103.80) with scores of 28, 47, and 34.
Aaryavir previously turned heads in the Cooch Behar Trophy by compiling a marathon 297 off 229 balls against Meghalaya, featuring 51 boundaries.
India has been placed in Group A alongside arch-rivals Pakistan, Nepal, and host nation UAE. All matches are scheduled to take place at the Oman Cricket Academy (OCC) Turf grounds in Muscat, with games starting at 10:30 AM IST.
India enters the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup 2026 as strong contenders. The opening clash against Nepal on November 6 provides an opportunity to adjust to conditions in Muscat before taking on rival Pakistan on November 8 in one of the most anticipated fixtures of the group stage. With a balanced squad led by Lakshya Raichandani, backed by form batters like Anvay Dravid and Aaryavir Sehwag, India aims to bring home another continental youth title.
India set sights on 9th U-19 Asia Cup title
India is the most successful team in the history of the Men's Under-19 Asia Cup, having won the title a record 8 times (1989, 2003, 2012 shared, 2013–14, 2016, 2018, 2019, and 2021). Their dominance began with a victory over Sri Lanka in the inaugural edition in 1989 and continued through decades of consistent performances across various editions. Besides India, four other nations have lifted the continental youth trophy:
Pakistan: Won their first title outright in 2003, shared the glory with India after a thrilling tied final in 2012, and claimed their second standalone title in 2025 by defeating India.
Afghanistan: Recorded a landmark triumph in 2017 when they swept past Pakistan by 185 runs in the final.
Bangladesh: Secured their maiden U19 Asia Cup crown in 2023 by defeating United Arab Emirates in the final. They then sealed their second title in 2024 by thrashing India by 59 runs in the summit clash.
