On Thursday, 26th September, Los Angeles Dodgers skipper Dave Roberts talked about how Shohei Ohtani is having an exceptional season and how he realized a childhood dream by winning the NL West title with the team. While talking to Sportsnet, Roberts talked highly about their designated hitter following their win over the San Diego Padres.

 

What did Dave Roberts have to say about Shohei Ohtani?

 

Los Angeles Dodgers skipper Dave Roberts after their 7-2 win over the Padres said, "It's unprecedented. This is something that I know Shohei's dreamed about ever since he was a young kid, and now he's living it in real-time."

 

The 2024 season in Major League Baseball (MLB) has been ecstatic for Shohei Ohtani as he became the first player in the history of the sport to record a 50-50 season. He is currently sitting on 53 home runs and 56 stolen bases for the season. He has a batting average of .305 and 1.030 OPS. Ohtani is also the favourite to win the NL MVP at the end of the season.

"He's put on a show the last couple of weeks, and obviously, what a year he's having. We're gonna ride that horse, that thoroughbred, to the championship," Roberts added.

 

What did Dave Roberts and Shohei Ohtani say after defeating San Diego Padres?

 

Los Angeles Dodgers defeated San Diego Padres 7-2 at the Dodger Stadium and clinched the NL West division title. It was their 11th title in the last 12 seasons.

 

It was not a smooth ride for the Dodgers all along as they are facing injury issues to most of their important players. But, Roberts praised his team's fighting spirit while talking to Kirsten Watson after defeating Padres.

 

"I couldn't be more proud of these guys, they fought and fought and fought, overcame adversity. We checked box number one, long way to go, but we're going to celebrate tonight. They just showed so much character, so much grit, so much fight," Roberts concluded.

 

It was a night to remember for Shohei Ohtani as he won his first title with the team in front of the home support. "For us players, and also for the fans, I think it was a special moment," Ohtani said.

 

Los Angeles Dodgers will next take on a three-game series against the Colorado Rockies.
