New York Yankees Slugger Juan Soto powered his team to the World Series for the first time in 15 years after he hit a home run against the Cleveland Guardians. The Yankees won the match 5-2.
How did Juan Soto celebrate this win?
It was Soto who struck a go-ahead three-run home run in the tenth inning to put the Yankees inch closer to a win. The same happened when Luke Weaver closed the bottom tenth to clinch a 5-2 victory.
After the win, New York Yankees players were seen celebrating the victory with their friends and family. Soto's parents, Juan Soto Sr. along with Belkis Pacheco were all present at the Progressive Field to celebrate the win. He was embraced by his mother before his father lifted him in the air followed by a hug.
Soto's parents have been his biggest supporters and they were in attendance to cheer the Dominican who is in pursuit of his second World Series ring. He won his first World Series ring while playing for the Washington Nationals in 2019. On top of it, his parents were present when Juan Soto made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut.
Soto described it as extra special. "It was really special having my family out there. For me, every time I go to the plate or go to the field, and you know family is out there, I want to give him my 100 per cent every time I go out there and try to make it fun," Soto said.
Juan Soto is eyeing World Series glory with the Yankees
The postseason success is something that Juan Soto has been a part of while playing for the Nationals but he wants to achieve the same glory with the New York Yankees. Soto said, "Man, we're going all the way!" He said this while he was drenched in champagne.
His teammate Giancarlo Stanton, who was named the ALCS MVP for his impressive performances in the championship series, shared the same thought and wants the Dominican to stay with the Yankees.
"We need him to stay. He’s going to stay. We need to bring it home, and then we’ll bring him home also," Stanton said.
The New York Yankees will face either the Los Angeles Dodgers or rivals New York Mets in the World Series.
