Memphis Grizzlies will host the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night as both teams aim to end difficult stretches in the Western Conference.
Memphis enters the matchup with a 23–41 record following a road loss to the Philadelphia 76ers earlier this week. The defeat marked the Grizzlies’ fifth straight loss, adding urgency ahead of the home contest against Dallas.
Despite the setback, a few individual performances stood out in the game against Philadelphia.
Ty Jerome and Cedric Coward lead recent effort
Guard Ty Jerome delivered a strong showing in Tuesday’s loss, finishing with 26 points and eight assists to lead Memphis offensively.
Meanwhile, Cedric Coward produced an impressive all-around performance with 13 points, 16 rebounds, and 13 assists, recording a triple-double effort despite the team’s defeat.
However, both players now appear unlikely to feature in the upcoming matchup against Dallas due to injury concerns.
Several players listed as doubtful
Memphis Grizzlies currently have 11 players on their injury report, creating significant uncertainty around the lineup.
Coward has been listed as doubtful due to right knee injury management and is expected to miss the first game of Memphis’ back-to-back schedule. Jerome is also listed as doubtful with right calf injury management and is projected to sit out Thursday’s contest.
Additional injury concerns further complicate the situation. Walter Clayton Jr. is doubtful with a right ankle sprain, while veteran forward Taj Gibson is listed as doubtful as he continues return-to-competition reconditioning.
Guard Cam Spencer remains questionable because of low back soreness, leaving Memphis uncertain about his availability.
Key players already ruled out
Memphis Grizzlies will definitely be without several major contributors for the matchup.
Scotty Pippen Jr. has been ruled out with a toe injury. In addition, Memphis continues to be without multiple regulars as they recover from injuries.
Star guard Ja Morant, forward Santi Aldama, forward Brandon Clarke, rookie center Zach Edey, and veteran guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope have all been ruled out.
With such a lengthy injury list, Memphis will rely heavily on available depth as it attempts to halt its losing streak against Dallas.
