Mavericks GM Nico Harrison continues to justify his decision to trade Luka Doncic. Ever since Nico has pulled off the unthinkable move, he has been at the end of immense fury from the fans. While a considerable time has passed since the trade took place, enough for him to reflect on his decision, he remains headstrong and hasn't changed his stance on why he did what he did. Doncic on the other hand has perfectly acclimatized to the fresh environment of Los Angeles and has lately been firing on all cylinders for the Lakers.

Nico Harrison Addresses Luka Doncic Trade Once Again

In the latest address to the episode, Nico Harrison continues to express no remorse on what the majority of the Dallas and NBA world believes was a disastrous decision.  Nico attributed Luka Doncic's transfer as "best thing for the Mavericks" and once again took an indirect jibe at the Slovenian by highlighting the role defense plays in winning a title. It is no secret that Doncic isn't defensively as potent as he is with offence, but it cannot be denied that most of the times, he makes it up for the former by contributing largely through the latter. Being the general manager of the Dallas Mavericks, where Luka Doncic spent seven years, nobody knows that better than Nico. Yet, something of the sort coming out of him only gives the Doncic unfaithful more heed to discuss. Moreover, this time he has even cast doubts on whether Doncic may have signed the "supermax" deal or not.

"There's no regrets on the trade," Harrison said, per Briauna Brown of CBS News Texas. "Part of it is doing the best thing for the Mavs." Harrison also repeatedly used the phrase "defense wins championships" while discussing the decision to trade Doncic. Harrison also said there was "no guarantee he would have signed the supermax."

Harrison being dubious of whether Luka Doncic may have signed the deal or not does not align with the star guard's claim. Following his exit from Dallas, Luka Doncic clearly expressed that he desired to play for the Mavericks for the entirety of his career.
