Caitlin Clark breaks silence on her recovery journey after suffering a left quad strain.

The Indiana Fever prepare for a crucial matchup against the reigning champions as Clark’s status remains closely watched.

After missing five games due to a left quad injury, Caitlin Clark is officially back—and just in time for a marquee matchup. The Indiana Fever guard is set to return to the court on Friday, June 14, when her team hosts the reigning WNBA champions, the New York Liberty.

The news of Clark’s return was confirmed by the Fever through their social media accounts on June 13, bringing an end to the longest injury-related absence of her collegiate and professional basketball career.

Caitlin Clark set for highly-anticipated return

Clark's injury occurred during a tight 90-88 loss to the Liberty on May 24, a game in which she still managed to put up a stellar double-double performance with 18 points and 10 assists. Although she couldn’t pinpoint the exact moment the injury happened, the aftermath was clear.

“Obviously, adrenaline covers up a lot of stuff when you're in the heat of battle,” Clark said on Thursday. “And after the game, I had some pain, and then we got an MRI, and that kind of gave me the result that I didn't want to see. But, you know, those types of things don't lie.”

Initially ruled out for at least two weeks, Caitlin Clark’s tentative return date was June 10 against the Atlanta Dream. However, the Fever opted for a more cautious approach with the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year, choosing to rest her a bit longer to ensure full recovery.

Fever look to rebound with star guard

The Indiana Fever went 2-3 in Clark’s absence and currently sit at 4-5 on the season. Her return couldn’t come at a better time, as the team prepares for a rematch with the Liberty—a squad that has already proven challenging.

Clark’s presence is pivotal. She leads the team in both scoring (19.0 PPG) and assists (9.3 APG), with her assists average topping the league. Her dynamic playmaking and sharp shooting will be crucial as Indiana tries to regain momentum.

Even while sidelined, Caitlin Clark remained actively involved with the team, embracing a leadership role on the bench.

“She’s really stepped into that coaching kind of mindset,” said Fever coach Stephanie White. “She’s engaged, encouraging, and learning to see the game from a different perspective.”

Ready to shine under Friday night lights

Fans can expect to see Clark in action on Friday as she rejoins the starting lineup for one of the most highly anticipated games of the season. Her competitive fire, paired with Indiana’s hunger for a win, sets the stage for a thrilling showdown at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Whether she can pick up right where she left off remains to be seen, but one thing is certain—Caitlin Clark is ready.
