Big Setback for the Trojans

USC saw superstar JuJu Watkins depart in the first quarter of the game. Watkins fell to the floor and was visibly in pain before she got carried off the court. Following the culmination of the game, UFC head coach Lindsey Gottlieb stated that she did not have an update on her yet.

However, the USC account disseminated the crushing update shortly after.

"JuJu Watkins sustained a season-ending injury in the NCAA Second Round on Monday night. She will undergo surgery and then begin rehabilitation shortly thereafter."

Watkins played just five minutes before sustaining the injury. Her departure means a direct setback to the Trojans' title hopes.

Watkins has been a standout player for the USC. She averaged 24.6 points, 7 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game this year. In USC's first-round game in the NCAA Tournament, Watkins registered 22 points, with 8 rebounds, which proved to be instrumental in Trojans' blowout win over UNCG.

USC will now have to compete without Watkins for the rest of March Madness, and the first game without the star will be on Saturday against Kansas State.
