In an interview with Vogue published over the weekend, the 41-year-old Al-Nassr forward said that this will probably be his “last year of football.”

The Portuguese star, whose contract with the Saudi Pro League club runs until June 2027, explained that he has already mapped out his future beyond the pitch. Reflecting on more than two decades of elite football, he explained that retirement risks leaving a significant void after 25 years of daily sacrifices. He said:

“I have so many things to keep me busy that to tell you just one thing is hard.”

Ronaldo added:

“Because football could leave a big hole, you have to fill your time in various ways, not just one. And also have more fun, travel more, watch and play padel, which I really like, and continue to enjoy what I’ve earned what we’ve earned.”

The comments came shortly after his wedding to long-time partner Georgina Rodriguez and follow Portugal’s exit from the 2026 World Cup in the round of 16.  Ronaldo, who remains among the game’s all-time leading goalscorers and is closing in on 1,000 career goals, has previously indicated the World Cup would be his last major tournament with the national team.
