His tweet struck a chord with fans, especially as resale ticket prices soared.

Former NBA player Evan Turner recently took his daughter to see Taylor Swift's Eras Tour in Indianapolis. While he enjoyed the concert, he couldn't help but joke on Twitter about the eye-popping ticket prices. Taylor Swift is currently dating NFL's Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and the duo has been the talk of the town.

"I went to Taylor Swift with my daughter last night and it was super fun and amazing, but we could've used that bread and went to Europe lol,” he quipped.

His tweet struck a chord with fans, especially as resale ticket prices soared—one hour before the show, tickets were still available on sites like VividSeats for $2,213 each in the Lower Level.

Turner's achievements

Turner, who was selected as the No. 2 overall pick by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2010 NBA Draft, had a solid career spanning ten years with teams like the Pacers, Celtics, Trail Blazers, and Hawks. Across more than 700 games, he averaged 9.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. However, his time with the Sixers was short, lasting only three seasons before being traded to the Indiana Pacers in 2014 for Danny Granger and a future second-round pick, who never ended up playing for Philadelphia.

Fifteen years after Turner's draft, the only active player from the 2010 class still in the NBA is Paul George of the Clippers. This comes after Gordon Hayward's retirement earlier in 2024.

Turner's lighthearted comment about the high cost of Eras Tour tickets resonated with many, especially as celebrity attendees like Pat McAfee and Kelly Stafford have also praised Taylor Swift's performances. Before heading to Toronto for the second leg of her international tour, Taylor is taking some time to rest after completing the U.S. leg of her tour.

Taylor credited for NFL success
According to Allison Kuch, wife of former NFL star from Las Vegas Raiders Isaac Rochell, Swift deserves praise for helping to reshape perceptions about women in sports, especially the wives and girlfriends of athletes.

"I think women in and around sports are being uplifted now more than ever, and we owe that to incredible women like Taylor Swift, Simone Biles, and Brittany Mahomes. These women are doing amazing things beyond just being wives. The narrative is shifting away from the outdated stereotype of 'Oh, you married him for his money.' I hope I’ve played a part in changing that too,"  Kuch said in an interview with People.
