Will Dereck Lively II and Daniel Gafford play against Orlando Magic?

The Dallas Mavericks will be without Dereck Lively II and Daniel Gafford for the clash against Magic. Dereck has been out of action since January 14 after being diagnosed with right ankle stress fracture and will be out for 2-3 months. They even assigned him to the G League's Texas Legends to take part in a 5-on-5 practice and will recall him after that.

On the other hand, Daniel Gafford has been sidelined since February 10 due to a Grade 3 right MCL sprain and will be out for at least six weeks. According to Marc Stein, Mavericks assigned Gafford (knee) to the G League's Texas Legends on Friday to participate in a 3-on-3 practice and will call him after that.

The Dallas Mavericks are navigating through their own injury issues as their star player Kyrie Irving is out of the season with a torn ACL. Their center Anthony Davis is also listed as questionable and on day-to-day due to a left adductor strain injury.

The Dallas Mavericks are eleventh in the Western Conference with a record of 35-38 and are on a one-game losing streak. The Orlando Magic are placed eighth in the Western Conference with a record of 35-38 and are on a three-game winning streak.

Anthony Davis speaks on Kyrie Irving's season-ending injury

Anthony Davis returned to the action for the Mavericks on Monday night against the Brooklyn Nets. The match ended in the favor of Mavericks (120-101). Davis spoke after the game about Kyrie Irving's season-ending injury.

It was devastating, Davis said. Kyrie is a phenomenal basketball player but, even more, a phenomenal human. Anytime anyone goes through something like that, an injury like that, it always sucks. Obviously, the initial injury, the initial moment, you want to give him space. Now he’s excited about the rehab process.

He’s in a good head space now. He’s around the team. He was on the bench tonight, Davis continued. To see him in a great head space, it’s good for our team, good for me and, I’m pretty sure, good for him. Obviously, it sucks, but we have to hold the fort down for this season.

The Mavericks on Wednesday announced that Kyrie Irving has undergone a successful surgery to repair a torn left knee ACL. In the two games that Davis has played for the Mavericks, he has averaged 19.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 2.0 blocks and 0.5 steals.
