The Detroit Pistons are all set to host the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday, March 28 at the Little Caesars Arena. Cade Cunningham is the favorite to win the year's Most Improved Player Award as he and the Detroit Pistons have been the surprise package in the NBA. They are fighting with Milwaukee Bucks and Indiana Pacers to secure home-court advantage in the first round for the first time since 2008.

Will Cade Cunningham start against Cleveland Cavaliers?

The 23-year-old point guard has been suffering from a calf injury that has kept him out of the action in the last two games for the Pistons. In his absence, the team was also to secure victories in both those games against the San Antonio Spurs and the New Orleans Pelicans.

Meanwhile, it looks like that he will miss the Friday's clash against the Cleveland Cavaliers as he is listed on the team's injury report up until March 30th, according to ESPN. His presence would have posed a threat against the Cavaliers but the Pistons are now at risk of losing against their division rivals.

The Pistons exceeded every bodies expectations last season after setting the NBA record for consecutive losses last year, but they will need their All-Star fully fit if they want to exceed during the postseason. Securing home-court advantage for a young team like Pistons would be crucial and if this happens, then they would bring back Cunningham before he is fully fit.

Cade Cunningham to miss against Cavaliers

The Detroit Pistons would be without their key player against the Cavaliers, which makes tonight's game much more difficult for the team, even if the Cavaliers decide to bench Evan Mobley and Ty Jerome. In the previous clash between both these sides, the Pistons narrowly lost on a buzzer beating-three pointer from Darius Garland.

Despite the loss, it was one of the best games for Cunningham this season. He played for a total of 38 minutes and registered 38 points, nine assists and four steals. In the 66 games that Cunningham has played this season, he has averaged 25.7 points, 9.2 assists and 6.1 rebounds per game. His calf injury is a major concern for the Pistons as it also takes a toll on their chances of winning a playoff series.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are first in the Eastern Conference with a record of 59-14 and are on a three game winning streak. On the other hand, the Pistons are fifth in the Eastern Conference with a record of 41-32 and are on a two game winning streak.
