What did LeBron James say about Giannis Antetokounmpo?

As great as Antetokounmpo and James have been throughout their careers, there are debates about how both these players would have faired in the past eras. While on the Pat McAfee show, James talked about how the Greek Freak would fare in the past eras.

You trying to tell me Giannis [Antetokounmpo] wouldn’t be able to play an NBA game in the 70s? Giannis would have 250 points in a game in the 70s.

The most points scored in a single NBA game came on May 2, 1962. Wilt Chamberlain of the Philadelphia Warriors notched up 100 points against the New York Knicks. The match ended in the favor of Warriors (169-147). The late Kobe Bryant came close to the 100 points mark as he scored 81 points against the Toronto Raptors in 2006.

Six of the top 10 highest single-game scoring records happened in the late 60s and 70s, with five of them being with Chamberlain. Among the active players, Luka Doncic's 73 points in 2024 is ranked fourth while Damian Lillard's and Donovan Mitchell's 71 are ninth which they secured in 2023.

James feels that Antetokounmpo would be able to crush the scoring mark set by Wilt Chamberlain or any NBA legend. Antetokounmpo, who hardly shoots 3-pointers, will feel at home in the rough and tumble day of those eras.

LeBron James 17-6 record against Giannis Antetokounmpo

In the first meeting between Los Angeles Lakers and the Milwaukee Bucks this season, James didn't feature in the game with a groin injury. Luka Doncic led the Lakers with 45 points and 11 rebounds but it was not enough to register a win against the Bucks. The Antetokounmpo led Bucks finished with a victory (126-106) as the Greek Freak scored 24 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists.

In the rematch on Thursday, James was still not available as Doncic and Austin Reaves along with other key players missed the clash. The Bucks ended the match with a 118-89 victory. Antetokounmpo registered 28 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Despite the losses, LeBron James still has a record of 17-6 against Giannis Antetokounmpo.
