As the Boston Celtics look to host the New York Knicks on Wednesday, 22nd October, the tradition goes on as the reigning champions will raise a '2024 World Champions' banner to the rafters in a special pregame ceremony.

Boston Celtics to raise banner and receive championship rings

The Celtics will further receive their championship rings to honour their 18th NBA title. With their recent title, they have surpassed the Los Angeles Lakers for the most number of titles in the league history.

The 2023-24 season for the Boston Celtics was historic in many ways as the franchise set multiple NBA records. They achieved the 64-18 regular-season record which was the fourth best in the team's history. Their record in the pre-season was 16-3 which culminated in a five-game NBA Finals victory over the Dallas Mavericks to secure their 18th title.

On Tuesday night, Celtic's historic feat will be immortalised in a ceremony that begins at 7 PM ET ahead of the game's 7:30 PM start.

Boston Celtics player, Al Horford said ahead of the opening night, "I feel like it's becoming real, now that we're getting to do this. Just very grateful for the position that I'm in."

What time does the banner raising and ring ceremony start?

The TD Garden will be full of Celtic fans as they will get to see the ceremony live and people can enjoy the telecast from their TVs. The Celtics president of basketball operations, Brad Stevens will also join the celebrations.

The banner raising and ring ceremony will start at 7 PM ET and will run till 7:30 PM when the game starts.
