Tyrese Haliburton's 2024-25 season came to a brutal end as the Indiana Pacers star aggravated his right calf injury in Game 7 of the NBA Finals against Oklahoma City Thunder. According to his dad, John Haliburton, he confirmed to ESPN that it Tyrese has sustained an Achilles injury.
When will Tyrese Haliburton return from his Achilles injury?
With Tyrese Haliburton out, it jeopardizes the Pacers' chances of completing a historic NBA championship run, but also cuts down their chances of replicating their heroics in the upcoming season.
It looks like that Tyrese Haliburton will be out of action from the 2025-26 season. If it's an Achilles tendon rupture, then he would have a four to six month recovery process. Once he's ready for physical movement, he will need another six months to rehab, rest and recover. The whole process involves him passing a mental hurdle and game conditioning. It looks like that Haliburton will be returning to action in 2026-27 season.
Kevin Durant also went through a similar injury in the 2019 NBA Finals. He had to miss the following season as he returned to action during the 2021-22 season. The season started in December after the Covid 19 pandemic saw the 2019-20 season extend.
Haliburton had a terrific postseason run after hitting four game-winners, each in every series, which includes Game 1 of the finals, which was crucial for the Pacers, forcing Game 7. He averaged 17.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 9.0 assists and 1.4 steals, shooting 46.1%, including 32.9% from 3 in 22 playoff games before Sunday's championship contest.
The Indiana Pacers will not have enough fire power in their tank to replicate their success of the past two seasons, which includes making the conference finals in 2024 and the finals in 2025. During both playoff runs, Haliburton's season ended due to injuries. He suffered a hamstring injury last year amid the Pacers 4-0 loss to Boston Celtics in the conference finals.
