It has come to light that James Harden might soon have a new team, and the 36-year-old’s time with the Los Angeles Clippers is over after two and a half seasons. An NBA insider has recently provided details on the former Brooklyn Nets star's trade and who will replace the star player on the team.
NBA insider reveals shocking James Harden trade to Cavaliers
According to a report by Shams Charania, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Los Angeles Clippers have agreed to swap point guards. The two sides are reported to exchange James Harden and Darius Garland in a one-for-one deal. In addition to this, the deal will also send the 2026 second-round pick to the Clippers.
The ESPN senior journalist joined the Sports Center, where he revealed that Harden and Donovan Mitchell "have already connected and James Harden has spoken with Donovan Mitchell and both seem very excited about this partnership."
In addition to this, for the Cavaliers, they are looking to find “a trade partner to assume Lonzo Ball’s $10 million salary," as per NBA insider Jake Fischer. Meanwhile, Harden is currently playing at the All-Star level at this age. If the player transfers to the Cavs, the franchise will have to navigate his player option for the 2026-27 season.
