Charania was included in Team Giannis for the 2026 Ruffles NBA All-Star Celebrity Game. He was spotted checking his phone on the sideline mid-game, which drew a criticism from Kevin Durant

Before the Celebrity Game started, his coach Giannis Antetokounmpo was questioned about his team's talent level. Instead of hyping up his lineup, he made fun of Charania.

“You know why it’s not fair? Because we have Shams on my team," Antetokounmpo said. He cannot hoop. But everybody else can hoop.”

Team Giannis defeated Team Anthony 65-58 in the clash. Shams Charania failed to score and was slammed on social media for a poor performance, including four missed shots and three turnovers.

Actor and two-time reigning celebrity game MVP, Rome Flynn paved the way. He amassed 17 points, earning his second back-to-back MVP award for the event.
