Klay Thompson On his influential play in the first quarter against the Wizards
Thompson gave the Mavericks a stunning start as he struck seven 3s in the first quarter. The early surge put Mavs in the driver's seat from the first quarter as an inspirational lead of 26 points was formed after the phase.
The 34-year-old point guard has been persistent throughout the season and has helped the Mavericks stay afloat in the absence of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. The performance against the Wizards has seemingly reinvigorated his belief that he still got it.
“When you do something like that it reminds you that there’s greatness still within,” Thompson said, via Legion Hoops.

Klay Thompson: Still among the best
Thompson was 7-0f-10 from downtown in the first quarter, giving the team the boost it needed. He culminated the game with 7-of-12. It was an inspirational performance by Thompson, who is averaging 13.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2 assists per game this season. While his numbers are decent, they are not as ominous they used to be when he was a part of the Golden State Warriors. Regardless, Thompson is a good fit for Dallas.
Klay Thompson has had some excellent games in the season and Monday's performance will be added to the base. There was a time when he used to be one of the most lethal shooters in the NBA and was always a threat from the 3-point zone. However, his skill and sharpness on the court have somewhat depleted but Thompson is still one of the greats of the game, and games like the Mavericks vs Wizards only showcase what he is capable of.
