The star guard picked up an injury on his left calf during the Christmas Day encounter against the Minnesota Timberwolves and has remained out of action since then. Having averaged 28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 7.3 assists per game, the impact of Doncic's departure was always going to be monumental and the fact that Mavericks have only won 7 of its last 18 games, tells how integral the Slovenian is for the Mavs. However, the 25-year-old is set to return soon. According to the latest report, the sharpshooter could return to the court before the All-Star break.

Dallas Mavericks Injury Report
Luka Doncic is not the only player from the Mavericks' side who is nursing an injury. According to the injury report released by the Dallas Mavericks ahead of the game against the Detroit Pistons, four players including Luka Doncic will miss tonight's game.
The other major missings from the Dallas side tonight would be, Dereck Lively II, Dwight Powell, and Maxi Kleber.
- Dereck Lively II: Out due to right ankle stress fracture
- Dwight Powell: Out due to right hip strain
- Maxi Kleber: Out due to right foot fracture
- Luka Doncic: Out due to calf strain
While the wait for Luka Doncic's return will continue, Mavericks is still set to receive an injury boost as veteran guard Dante Exum has recovered and is set to make his season debut tonight.
