Dallas Mavericks shockingly traded Luka Doncic during the Trade-Window of February.

Having endured a tough 2024-25 season, the Dallas Mavericks will look to come back on track ahead of the next season by making a couple of signings during the offseason. It goes without saying that they need a point guard to come in as a replacement for the departed Luka Doncic. Moreover, they also have the luxury to utilise the No.1 pick, which they secured through the draft.

Dallas Mavericks Could Look to Sign Jrue Holiday From Celtics

The mission before the start of the next season would be to improve the prospects of the squad, and hence Mavericks are set to include fresh faces.

Bleacher Report's Dan Favale proposed a trade where the Mavericks would receive Jrue Holiday, the Boston Celtics would receive Daniel Gafford and P.J. Washington, and the Brooklyn Nets would receive Dwight Powell and a 2026 second-round pick as a trade facilitator.

"Dallas badly needs another ball-handler since Kyrie Irving’s ACL injury will keep him out through at least the start of 2026. Holiday could run a good portion of the show until Irving returns without infringing upon developmental reps for likely No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg. The Mavs would have no trouble playing all four of Flagg, Holiday, Irving and Anthony Davis together when they’re at full strength.

The contract is the issue - Boston signed him to a lucrative long-term deal worth over $37 million at age 37, despite consistently missing around 15 games per season. Given his mediocre 2024-25 stats (11.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 35.3% three-point shooting), trading P.J. Washington, Daniel Gafford, and Dwight Powell for him, even with his elite defense, seems like a steep price to pay
