Golden State Warriors to Pursue Former Lakers Center

“The Golden State Warriors could give Thomas Bryant the fair shake he deserves in the NBA,” wrote Matthew Legros of Empire Sports Media. “Bryant is a gargantuan center who could add size, floor-spacing, high energy, and athleticism to the Warriors’ frontcourt.”

Thomas Bryant, who has been present on the scene since the last eight years, has struggled to fetch a consistent role since entering the league in 2017. After a promising debut season with the Lakers, he was traded to the Washington Wizards in 2018, where he enjoyed somewhat success. During the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons, Bryant averaged over 21 minutes per game, showcasing his mettle as a reliable man. However, his career has been marked by instability, with stints in Los Angeles, Denver, and most recently, Indiana.

Despite getting limited playing time with the Pacers this season, Bryant's skill set remains attractive. The 27-year-old is known for his explosive leaping abilities, pick-and-roll effectiveness, and transition play, and he might help the Golden State Warriors with their frontcourt depth needs. Golden State passed up many trade opportunities for big players this season, making Bryant a player which they can zero-in on.

“Golden State needs a big man who can bring those qualities, plus rim protection to the floor for them,” Legros added. “Bryant has not been able to enjoy a featured role for long, which he may deserve.”

Thomas Bryant's second stint with the Lakers in 2022 saw him average 12.1 points and 6.8 rebounds in 41 games before being traded to the Nuggets. While his stats have plummeted this season, his high-intensity game and on-court experience make him a handy fit for the Golden State Warriors.
