NBA legend and two-time MVP Steve Nash is making a highly anticipated return to the basketball world—but this time, from behind the microphone. According to NBA insider Marc Stein, Nash is set to join Amazon Prime’s NBA broadcast team for the 2025-26 season.

This news comes shortly after Nash made headlines for appearing on LeBron James’ podcast, marking his increasing presence in the media landscape.

 Reuniting with a Familiar Face

Nash won't be alone in his new venture. He’ll be teaming up once again with Dirk Nowitzki, his former Dallas Mavericks teammate and fellow Hall of Famer.

“Hall of Fame point guard Steve Nash is expanding his scope as a basketball broadcaster. And Nash, in the process, will become teammates again with a very close friend — fellow Hall of Famer Dirk Nowitzki — for the first time in more than 20 years,” wrote Marc Stein in his report.

Their partnership will be part of Amazon’s debut season covering the NBA after striking a monumental 11-year, $20 billion deal that includes shared broadcasting rights with ESPN and NBC.

 Star-Studded Amazon Prime Lineup

Taylor Rooks will join Nash and Nowitzki on the Prime broadcast, alongside former NBA All-Star Blake Griffin. This streaming service promises to be quite hot this season for the NBA as it presents exclusive shows of:

- 66 regular season games
- The NBA Cup
- A traditional Black Friday match every year
- Rotational rights to the Conference Finals

Amazon has also jumped on board by announcing the induction of Stan Van Gundy and veteran commentator Ian Eagle, who will be serving as lead play-by-play voice. Other big names such as Richard Jefferson, Kevin Harlan, Michael Grady, Dwyane Wade are rumored to be joining as well.

 Nash Moves Away from Coaching

This media role pretty much ends all that speculation about Nash returning to the sideline anytime soon. There were rumors that the former Brooklyn Nets head coach could return to coaching, including being a dark horse candidate to replace Monty Williams in Phoenix, where he enjoyed the pinnacle of his playing career.

But his shift to Amazon is a clear indication that he is directing his future attention toward broadcasting.

From Mavericks to the Media of Nash and Nowitzki

Nash is most remembered for his MVP seasons with the Suns, but the foundation for his stardom was laid in Dallas alongside Nowitzki. He was first selected to an All-NBA team at the end of the 2000-01 season. By 2002, both were All-Stars for the first time in their careers.

Their competitive legacies remained intertwined. Nowitzki won his only MVP award in 2007.
