Angel Reese won't be playing with the Chicago Sky as she enters her third WNBA season. The Chicago Sky traded two-time WNBA All-Star to the Atlanta Dream on Monday in exchange for Atlanta's first-round draft picks in 2027 and 2028, and the right to swap second-round picks in 2028 in addition.

The move sends the 23-year-old forward to a new team as the WNBA season approaches, as reported by Prime’s Taylor Rooks. Sky general manager Jeff Pagliocca said in a statement:
"This trade is designed to achieve roster balance and represents a great opportunity for all parties.”
Pagaliocca also thanked Reese for her contributions and wished her good luck for the future. Reese, selected seventh overall by Chicago in the 2024 WNBA Draft, has established herself as one of the league's elite rebounders in just two seasons.
The power forward has averaged 14.1 points and a league-leading 12.9 rebounds per game across 64 appearances, becoming the only player in WNBA history to average at least 12.0 rebounds in a season twice. In 2025, she posted 14.7 points and 12.6 rebounds while earning her second All-Star nod and defending her rebounding title.
Meanwhile, the WNBA season is all set to begin on May 8 with the pre-season kicking off in April. Sky will face Phoenix Mercury in the pre-season opener, while Reese’s new team will face her former side. It remains to be seen if Reese will appear with the Dream when it faces Sky in the pre-season opener.
