The Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White rejoined the team on Monday after taking a brief leave due to a family emergency. She was absent during Indiana Fever's thumping victory of over 25 points against the Chicago Sky on Saturday.
What did Stephanie White say about her brief leave?
While speaking to the reporter during the Monday practice, White broke silence and gave an update on her well-being during this challenging period. She assured her fans that she is doing well and expressed her gratitude towards her coaching staff and her players for their support to her during her tough time.
I'm doing alright, and it's helpful that we have such a great group that poured into me and helped to give me some strength, White said. I always say that we have three head coaches on our staff, and knowing that they continue to step up gives me comfort.
Our family's working through a hard time right now, but no matter what, I'm going to be where my feet are and I'm really thankful for this group.
According to ESPN reporter Lisa Salters, Stephanie White missed the Indiana Fever game against Chicago Sky to be with her partner. Her partner's mother is battling a serious health issue. In White's absence, it was assistant coach Austin Kelly who took over the head coach duties for the game.
Stephanie White gives major update on star Caitlin Clark
On Monday, Stephanie White confirmed that star Caitlin Clark will be missing her fifth game on the trot as the Indiana Fever are set to take on Atlanta Dream on Tuesday. While the star player is making progress in her road to recovery from a quad injury, White mentioned that Clark has not been fully cleared for unrestricted practice.
Following Tuesday's clash with the Dream, the Fever will have a four day break as they take on New York Liberty on Sunday. It comes as a blessing in disguise for Clark as she will have time to recover fully from her injury and then take on Sabrina Ionescu and her squad.
