Shreyas Iyer to Yashasvi Jaiswal: Notable omissions from India's Asia Cup 2025 squad.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have announced India's squad for the Asia Cup 2025, which will start from September 9, 2025, in the  UAE. Suryakumar Yadav will lead the side and Shubman Gill will be his deputy in the mega event..
 

Legendary speedster Jasprit Bumrah will lead the pace attack alongside Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana in the Asia Cup 2025. Team India will start their campaign against the UAE on September 10 at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. 
 

Despite a balanced squad, there are some players whose omissions from the side shocked fans and former cricketers. Here's the tally.
 

Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer's last cricketing outing came in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 where he led Punjab Kings in the final scoring 604 runs in 17 matches. Before IPL he was India's highest run-getter in ICC Champions Trophy 2025. 
 

Yashasvi Jaiswal

Yashasvi Jaiswal also lost his spot in the Asia Cup. He was one of the potential contenders as an opener. The southpaw was part of India's T20 World Cup 2024 winning squad, where he was unable to get a match. Jaiswal had an impressive IPL season, finishing as Rajasthan Royals’ highest run scorer with 559 runs at an average of 43.00 and a strike rate of 159.71.

Mohammed Siraj

Mohammed Siraj played a crucial role for India in the five-Test match series of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. He was the only speedster who played all Tests and ended his the series as the highest wicket-taker. He also had a memorable IPL season. 

Prasidh Krishna

Prasidh Krishna who featured in the Test series against England and was the Purple Cap holder in this year’s IPL with 25 wickets from 15 matches, has also been left out of the squad.
