Former England cricketer Monty Panesar believes that the Indian team shouldn't be complacent heading into the Asia Cup final against Pakistan as the latter can very well manage to pull off an upset. He further remarked that the Men in Green have got nothing to lose so they can go on to play their best game of the tournament.
"Yeah, Pakistan is a dangerous team. They have got nothing to lose. While playing in the final, they could play their best game of cricket, where India has performed the best throughout the tournament. They (India) need to be really mindful," Panesar said, speaking to ANI.
Panesar's warning for India
Panesar further acknowledged that even though Pakistan isn't as good of a team as they once used to be, they can still turn up the heat in the final and defeat India. He also warned the Men in Blue and advised them to not be too complacent heading into the match.
"Pakistan is probably not as strong as it used to be, but on its day, it could still beat India. They have to be careful not to become too complacent about their performances," he added.
Notably, this will be the third meeting between India and Pakistan in the ongoing tournament. Suryakumar Yadav & Co. defeated their rivals in the previous two matches, but the upcoming game will undoubtedly be the most important one of them all. This will also be the first time that the two teams will be locking horns in the final of Asia Cup.
India and Pakistan's Asia Cup record
India have so far been dominant in their Asia Cup campaign as they are yet to lose a match in the tournament. They have so far won all of their six matches in the tournament and will be hoping to continue their unbeaten streakk in the final as well. On the other hand, Pakistan have so far lost two of their six matches in the tournament and both of those defeats came at the hands of the Men in Blue. It remains to be seen which team will get the better of the other in the all-important final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
