Mohammad Kaif made a big prediction regarding Abhishek Sharma

Abhishek is currently the top-scorer in Asia Cup 2025

Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif feels that Abhishek Sharma is the prefect replacement for Rohit Sharma when it comes to the shortest format. He pointed out how both batters are known to hammer the opposing bowlers especially in the powerplay and added that Abhishek has the ability to win games single-handedly for India.

“When Abhishek Sharma delivers with the bat, he wins the Man of the Match When he plays, he alone wins the game. When Rohit Sharma left, there was a question about his replacement Who will bat powerfully in the powerplay? We’ve got the answer, and the name is Abhishek Sharma," Kaif said on his YouTube channel.

Kaif further went on to make a massive prediction regarding Abhishek and claimed that the latter will go on to hit six  maximums in an over in the coming future. Notably, if Abhishek does go on to do so in an international match, then he will become just the second Indian after his mentor Yuvraj Singh to achieve the unqiue feat.

“It’s not batting, it’s his statement. On his day, he can destroy a bowler’s career during the power play. He can even hit six sixes in six balls. And, see, it will happen in the future. Abhishek Sharma will hit six sixes in six balls. I am saying this on my YouTube channel because it will happen. The range of shots that he has, the mental power, and understanding of the game. He plays fast bowlers well, and he is equally good against spin,” Kaif stated.

Abhishek's stellar Asia Cup campaign

Meanwhile, Abhishek has been a key figure in the Indian team in the ongoing Asia Cup. The left-hander is currently the top-scorer of the tournament with 248 runs under his belt from five innings. His performance has been exceptional especially in the last two matches where he has recorded scores of 74 and 75 against Pakistan and Bangladesh respectively. He will be hoping to continue this form in the Men in Blue's final two games of the competition.

India to meet Pakistan in final

On the other hand, India have already qualified for the final of Asia Cup and are set to meet arch-rivals Pakistan in the penultimate game on September 28. This will be the third time that the two teams will be facing each other in the ongoing edition of the tournament. India emerged victorious in the two previous matches against Pakistan and will be hoping to continue this form in the third and final game as well.
